Marvin A. Bennett: 85, of Baker City, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at a local care facility. His memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20 at Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1508 Fourth St., at La Grande. A full obituary will be published later.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF INTOXICANTS (Alcohol): Tina June Langley, 49, of Aloha, 4:36 p.m. Tuesday, at Chandler Lane and Slough Road; Langley also was cited on charges of failure to obey a stop sign and open container of alcohol in vehicle.

Accident report

On Interstate 84, near the Weatherby Rest Area about 30 miles south of Baker City at 10:09 p.m. Tuesday; police said a semitractor and trailer were traveling west when the driver noticed a fire had started on the right side of the rear axle of the trailer. Driver Carlos Mayer Lavignasse, 44, of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, pulled to the right shoulder, but was unable to extinguish the flames. Police said he unhooked the tractor and moved it a safe distance away from the burning trailer. The trailer, carrying plastic cups and lids, became fully engulfed by the fire and destroyed. Traffic was stopped until fire crews extinguished the blaze. There were no injuries.
