The Oregon Community Foundation has given the Baker Middle School’s plans to provide enhanced after-hours programs for students a substantial financial boost.

The school has been awarded a three-year grant of about $55,000 per year through the foundation’s “K-12 Student Success: Out of School Time” program, said Chris Carmiencke, Baker Middle School principal.

The money will be used to fund special classes for what Carmiencke has titled the school’s ALIVE program. The acronym stands for Achieving Lifelong Intellectual Versatile Experiences.
