Baker City, 1924-2017
Lloyd R. Cook, 93, of Baker City, died Oct. 9, 2017, at his home.
At his request there will be no service. Inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Cook was born on April 15, 1924, at Leon, Kansas, a son of Bill and Grace Cook. The family left Kansas and moved to Halfway, where he received his schooling.
After completing his education, he joined the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in California where he met his wife, Iona. They were married in 1944. After his discharge from the Navy, they moved to Baker City.
Mr. Cook had been a police officer and after that a sheriff for a short time. He and his family then moved to Western Oregon and he went to work for Textronix where he remained until he retired. He and Iona moved back to Baker City 12 years ago.
He is survived by a son.
He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a grandchild, four brothers and four sisters.
