S. John Collins/ Baker City Herald A corner kick by Jorge Duran led to one of Baker’s five goals against Nyssa Tuesday.

Baker rallied in the second half Tuesday to defeat Nyssa 5-3 in a nonleague boys soccer match at the Baker Sports Complex.

Two goals by Mauritz Ackermann and one by Colton Anderson gave Baker a 3-0 lead in the first half.

But Nyssa answered with three straight goals to forge a 3-3 tie at halftime.

Baker regained the lead for good in the second half when Omar Benites broke away from a pack of players and scored.

Jamisun Rigueiro added an insurance goal later in the half. Baker keeper Quinn Coomer had nine saves in the match.

Baker returns to Greater Oregon League play Saturday at Ontario.

Baker’s junior varsity travels to Payette Thursday.
