The Baker boys finished second and the girls third Friday at the annual Baker Invitational cross country meet at Quail Ridge Golf Course.

The boys tallied 39 points to trail only Union (17). The girls scored 73 points, trailing Union (22) and La Grande (34).

Kale Cassidy was the top Baker boys finisher, placing fifth in a time of 17:07.

Other Baker boys finishers were Jake Cusick, seventh (17:36); Lucas Stearns, 10th (18:00); Alex Gross, 11th (18:26); Conner Cline, 13th (18:40); Clay Keller, 20th (19:51); Joe Couch, 25th (20:21); Kyler Hester, 28th (21:07); Sam Harper, 37th (22:30); Ian Jesenko, 39th (22:43); Ethen Hatfield, 40th (22:44); and Austin Rasmussen, 44th (26:56).

Sydney Keller was the top Baker girls finisher, placing 11th in a time of 22:47.

Other Baker girls placers were Selena Botts, 14th (23:19); Lacey Jones, 17th (23:59); Jayden Rice, 21st (25:00.58); Payton Jones, 22nd (25:30); Kaitlyn Waters, 24th (26:27); Beka Shaw, 25th (27:47); and Hollie Mays, 27th (28:52).

Baker won the boys middle school race, and placed third in the girls race.

Hayden Younger led the Baker boys, placing second in a time of 10:20.

Other Baker boys finishers were Mical Hallett, fourth (10:30); Benjamin Martell, fifth (10:37); Kaden Dalke, ninth (11:06); Jordan Mills, 11th (11:21.15); Gavin Stone, 12th (11:27); Gabriel Bott, 13th (12:12); Thaddeas Pepera, 16th (13:19); and Connor Jensen, 17th (13:22).

Anna Belding won the girls race in a time of 10:56.

Other Baker girls placers were Sydney Pierce, seventh (11:58); Kaycee Cuzick, 14th (13:13); Teygen Coley, 17th (13:49); and Kaylyn Busciglio, 20th (16:24).

Baker travels to Ontario Thursday for the Crosby Invitational, and to La Grande Saturday.
