Bulldogs second at Burns

Baker placed second at the Burns Invitational volleyball tournament Saturday.

The Bulldogs finished play 4-1-1, losing 25-16, 25-23 to Nampa Christian in the championship match.

The same two teams opened play in pool play by splitting two games. Nampa Christian won the first 25-23, before Baker rallied for a 25-18 win.

Baker then defeated Ontario 25-8, 25-16, Bonanza 25-16, 25-14, Nyssa 25-14, 25-12, and Lakeview 25-12, 25-21.

“The girls played very good defense all day,” said Baker coach Warren Wilson.

Baker opens Greater Oregon League play Tuesday when the Bulldogs host La Grande.

Baker then travels to Imbler Thursday to play the Panthers and Weston-McEwen in a pair of nonleague matches.

The Bulldogs then host their own tournament Friday beginning at 10 a.m.
