Equalling last year’s school record, this year’s Baker wrestling squad will send 14 wrestlers to the Class 4A state tournament Friday and Saturday, Feb. 16-17, at Portland.
The Bulldogs, who placed second behind La Grande at Saturday’s district meet, will send four district champions to Portland.
Alex Duran defeated La Grande’s Ezra McIntosh 11-1 to win the 120-pound weight class.
Colton Anderson earned a 4-0 decision over Trey Trejo of Ontario to win at 126.
Elijah Banister pinned teammate Ian Feldmeier to win at 132.
Defending state champion Clay Keller defeated La Grande’s Nathan Reed 6-3 to advance at 160.
Headed to state as district runners-up along with Feldmeier are Johnny Niehaus (113), Jorge Duran (138), Alex Davila (145), Mahonri Rushton (170) and G’ovi Quezada (195).
Advancing as third-place winners are Alex Gross (106), Nick Blair (126), Eithen Hatfield (182) and Hudson Cole (220).
