Baker, Weiser play to a draw

S. John Collins / Baker City HeraldBrylan Robb, right, goes up for a header against Weiser's Manny Perez Monday night at Baker High School. The Bulldogs and Wolverines played to a 0-0 draw.

Baker and Weiser played to a 0-0 draw Monday in a rainy nonleague boys soccer match at the Baker Sports Complex.

Weiser appeared to have the best opportunities to break the scoring ice in the first half.

The Wolverines missed a direct free kick from in front of the Baker net when the kick caromed off the Bulldogs’ defensive wall.

Baker keeper Silas Carter made several saves during the final two minutes of the first half to keep the match scoreless.

It was more of the same in the second half with neither team finding the net.

Baker (2-0-1) hosts Four Rivers in another nonleague match Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Sports Complex.

The Bulldogs then open Greater Oregon League play at La Grande Saturday.
