Four Baker players scored Tuesday in the Bulldogs season-opening nonleague 5-1 girls soccer win at Nyssa.

Sydney Pierce led Baker with two goals. Sydney Younger, Daphne Thomas and Brooklyne Jaca each added single goals.

“We had great leadership from our returning players,” said Baker coach Kristen Rushton.

Rushton also had praise for keeper Syana Ruby.

“Shayna was a great keeper,” Rushton said. She was worth the wait.”

Baker travels to Boardman Thursday to take on Riverside, then returns home Monday to play Weiser at 6 p.m.
