The Leo Adler Foundation has announced that past and present graduates of Baker County high schools and Powder Valley High School at North Powder have received 266 scholarships totaling $996,100 for the 2018-19 academic year.
Seventy-five first-time students received a total of $229,500. Another 191 renewal students were awarded a total of $700,600, a press release announcing the scholarships stated.
From 1995 through the current year, 8,711 students have received scholarships totalling $20,995,373.
The scholarships have been awarded to students by the Leo Adler Foundation as directed by Leo in his final will and foundation establishment.
Scholarship amounts vary from year to year due to available funds and the number of qualified applicants, the press release stated.
The selection committee members strive to carry out Leo’s directions to provide Baker County and Powder Valley graduates financial assistance for higher educational or vocational training.
