Friday, July 6

2:28 a.m. — A single-wide mobile home at 1695 Auburn Ave., Space 3, was totally destroyed by a fire started by faulty wiring from the electrical furnace, Baker City Fire Department Lt. Ben Decker said this morning. The resident, who Decker did not identify, had left his home before the fire department arrived. Volunteers from the Baker Rural Fire Protection District responded along with Baker City firefighters. They spent two hours at the scene, Decker said. There were no injuries. Disaster responders with the local American Red Cross responded to provide assistance.
