RECKLESS DRIVING and RECKLESSLY ENDANGERING ANOTHER PERSON: Trista Diane Phillips, 34, of Elgin, about 8 p.m. PDT Friday on Interstate 84 about 10 miles north of Ontario; Lt. Mark Duncan of the Ontario office of the Oregon State Police said Sgt. Marvin Kurtis responded to a road rage driving complaint from Baker County near the Weatherby Rest Area. After interviewing witnesses and both drivers, Phillips, who was driving a Chevrolet Suburban, was cited and released on the charges. She was charged with reckless endangerment of her 2-year-old passenger, Duncan said. Police are asking the Malheur County District Attorney’s Office to review two more charges of recklessly endangering. The potential victims would be another traveler, Ian James Brown, 47, of Meridian, Idaho, who called police, and the driver of the truck and semitrailer involved in the road rage incident, Ilya G. Bezhan, 23, of Battle Ground, Washington, Duncan said.
ILLEGAL EXPORT OF MARIJUANA: Darius Isaiah Garcia, 21, of Nampa, Idaho, 5:59 p.m. Saturday; cited and released.
FAILURE TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF A DRIVER INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE, DRIVING WHILE OPERATOR’S LICENSE REVOKED, RECKLESS DRIVING and CRIMINAL MISCHIEF II: Mark Andres Johnston, 47, of Athena, 1:16 a.m. April 7; the citations were issued after investigation of a crash through a fence on Chandler corner. Police said the vehicle left the highway and traveled down an embankment, through a fence and came to rest in a calving pasture. Johnston had fled the scene on foot, police said. With the help of the Baker County Sheriff’s Department, OSP searched the area without finding Johnston. Baker City Police arrested him later that day on outstanding warrants.
