Lightning ignited about a dozen wildfires across Northeastern Oregon Friday, including several in Baker County, but crews from the Forest Service and Oregon Department of Forestry took advantage of the rain that fell with the storms and quickly stopped the blazes.

None burned more than one-tenth of an acre, according to the Blue Mountain Interagency Dispatch Center in La Grande.

Fires in and around Baker County included:

*Spud Springs area, 14 miles southwest of Baker City

*Whipple Gulch area, 15 miles southeast of Baker City

*Killamacue Creek, 14 miles northwest of Baker City

*Goose Creek, 5 miles west of Sparta</
