The Baker Seventh Day Adventist Church Pathfinders Club is grateful to all those persons who gave so generously to their food pickup.

There are more than 330 articles of canned and dry foods gathered. These items will help give some of the less fortunate families in the Baker area a happier Thanksgiving Day.

Baker City Mayor Larry Griffith has been re-elected to the League of Oregon Cities Board of Directors and City Manager Art Reiff has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Oregon City Manager’s Association.

The two were elected at the League of Oregon Cities 68th annual conference last weekend in Eugene.

Jack Ferguson almost never misses a Baker Bulldog football game, and he wasn’t about to miss Saturday’s playoff game against Banks — even if he did find himself stuck in the hospital.

Ferguson has assumed the mantle worn for years by Herman Steiger as Baker High School’s No. 1 fan. He has secured a day pass to let him out of his hospital room at St. Elizabeth Health Services to cheer on his beloved Bulldogs at Baker Bulldog Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

Baker City Councilors on Tuesday will discuss a proposed ordinance that would allow the city to block all access for up to a year to residential properties where at least three separate cases involving certain crimes or city code violations have occurred within a 180-day period.

Police Chief Wyn Lohner, who proposed the ordinance, wrote in a report to the Council that the city lacks penalties that deter people from repeatedly violating state criminal statutes or city ordinances.
