DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF INTOXICANTS, FAILURE TO PERFORM DUTIES OF A DRIVER IN AN ACCIDENT WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE and FELONY ATTEMPT TO ELUDE (vehicle): Harold Ray Baxter Jr., 65, of Baker City, 5:43 p.m. Sunday, at Campbell and Fifth streets; jailed and later released; police said Baxter failed to yield the right of way at an intersection and struck an Oregon State Police vehicle on Campbell Street. Trooper Timothy Schuette, the driver of the patrol car that was hit, attempted to stop Baxter, who failed to yield to the trooper’s emergency lights and siren. After a slow-speed pursuit, Baxter stopped at his home and was arrested. Police said Baxter’s pickup truck struck another vehicle before hitting the OSP vehicle. The crash was investigated by Baker City Police. The Baker County Sheriff’s Office also assisted Schuette at the scene.
