The body of Andy Dennis, a Haines man missing since Sept. 28 in the Wallowa Mountains, was found today, his niece, Candy Sturm, said this afternoon.

It appears that Dennis fell in the steep terrain, probably the same day he went on what was intended to be a one-day deer hunt, Sturm said.

His body has been brought to Baker City.

Sturm said her uncle's body was found near where searchers trapped Dennis' dog, Barney, on Saturday evening.

She said Barney was reunited with Dennis' wife, Patty, and that the dog, although he has lost some weight, is doing well.

Sturm said she "cannot express enough" to thank all the people who participated in the search for her uncle over the past week.
