Police are continuing to search for a man identified as the suspect in a Monday morning shooting that has left a Baker City man in critical condition in a Boise hospital for the past week.

Juan Anthony Martinez, 25, was shot by a man using a handgun at 1:30 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Indiana Avenue, police said.

Martinez was flown by Life Flight to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise. The Baker County Major Crime Team is investigating.

Baker City Police Chief Ray Duman said detectives were able to interview Martinez in Boise earlier this week. Martinez’s condition remains critical, but stable.

“We have the suspect ID’d and we’re actively looking for him,” Duman said. “Information is that he has left the area.”
