Baker City, 1925-2019
Edward L. Dove, 94, of Baker City died Jan. 20, 2019, at his residence at Meadowbrook Place.
Recitation of the rosary will be Thursday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, First and Church streets. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, with a reception afterward at the St. Francis de Sales Cathedral Parish Hall.
Ed was born on Jan. 17, 1925, at St. Paul, Minnesota, to William and Marie (Kronschnabel) Dove. On July 12, 1947, Ed married Alice Mae Mapes in Barnum, Minnesota. Together they had two children, Laura and Richard. He was self-employed as a roofer from 1964 until his retirement in 1986.
Ed enjoyed woodworking, cribbage, hunting, fishing, camping and pinochle. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, and the Grass Roots Cribbage Club of Baker City.
Survivors include his daughter, Laura Bunch of Lakewood, Colorado; his son, Richard Dove of Gresham; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Dove; his brother, Tom Dove; his sisters, Mary Lou Coppernoll and Doreen Coppernoll; and his grandson, Christopher Dove.
