Baker City, 1923-2019
Dorothy Jean Rager, 96, of Baker City, died June 2, 2019, at Settler’s Park Assisted Living.
Dorothy was born on Jan. 19, 1923, at New Bridge to John Melvin and Abbie Blanche (Davis) Hensley. On Aug. 24, 1942, Dorothy married Lyle Rager at Weiser, Idaho.
Together, they owned the In and Out Drive-in at Halfway for a time. For years, she belonged to the “Barn Rockers” square dance club in Halfway. The dance hall was a converted barn belonging to her dad, “Mel” Hensley.
Survivors include her two sons, Michael Rager of Baker City and Thomas Rager of Cove; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mel and Abbie Hensley; and her husband, Lyle Rager.
