Baker handed Parma a 25-23, 25-14, 25-23 loss in a nonleague volleyball match Monday in the Baker gym.

In the first game, Baker rode eight service points from Kaylee Burk to build a 12-2 lead.

But Parma wouldn’t go away, cutting Baker’s lead to 23-22 and again at 24-23 before Carson Lien gave the Bulldogs the win with a hit off a Parma block attempt.

With Game 2 tied at 7-7, Baker pulled ahead 14-8 behind the serving of Desi Davis.

The Bulldogs then maintained a large lead the rest of the game, easily taking a 2-0 match lead.

Jayme Ramos and Abby Baker then combined to serve the Bulldogs into a 6-1 advantage in the third game.

Paige Pearce added two key hits and Burk one as the Bulldogs built their cushion to 10-3.

But again Parma rallied.

The Pirates cut Baker’s lead to one point three different times and eventually took a 23-21 lead.

That’s when Baker forged a rally of its own.

Ramos scored on a hit off a Parma block attempt and Burk added a block of her own to knot the game at 23-23.

Then, after a Parma timeout, Ramos served the final two points for the win.

Baker swept the nonvarsity matches, winning the JV2 match 25-11, 25-7, and the junior varsity match 25-20, 22-25, 15-8.

Baker returns to Greater Oregon League action Thursday at Ontario. Baker is 2-0 in GOL play.
