The Baker girls basketball team beat Philomath 61-56 tonight to advance to the Class 4A state championship game for the first time.

Rose Gwillim led the Bulldogs with 18 points. Sydney Younger had 15 points, and Isabella Nemec 12 as Baker improved to 24-1 on the season.

Baker trailed 17-14 at the end of the first quarter but took the lead in the second quarter and never relinquished it, although Philomath tied the score at 54 late in the fourth quarter. Baker has won 18 consecutive games since its only loss of the season, 61-46 at Burns on Dec. 15.
