Baker finally got something besides an “0” in the win column Wednesday.
The Bulldogs (1-11) earned their first win of the season, a 14-3 nonleague win at Burns.
Burns rebounded to take Game 2, 15-14.
“It was our best outing of the year,” Baker coach Sonny Gulick said of the first game.
Bekah Davis was the winning pitcher, throwing a two-hitter while striking out five and walking none.
Kaitlyn Nelson (3-for-4), Rose Gwillim (2-for-3) and Alayna Calaway (2-for-4) led Baker’s offense.
Jordynne Fine and Salena Cullum each added a pair of RBIs.
In Game 2, Baker led early before three errors gave Burns the lead for good in the sixth inning.
Kaitlyn Nelson took the loss in the circle in relief of Jordynne Fine.
“Both pitchers threw strikes but we did not do a good job supporting them in the field,” Gulick said.
Bekah Davis was 3-for-3, Josalyn Davis 2-for-3, Gwillim 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Natalie Davis a hit and two RBIs, Calaway a home run and two RBIs, and Celeena Fine and Cullum each had a single.
Baker returns to Greater Oregon League play this afternoon hosting Ontario in a doubleheader at the Baker Sports Complex.
