BOISE — Baker topped Boise High School 54-30 in a wrestling dual meet Tuesday at Boise.

Each school was unable to fill three weight classes, which meant the meet came down to eight matches.

Baker coach Brandon Young said Johnny Niehaus, despite feeling ill, won in a fall in just over a minute at 132 pounds.

Isael Duran also won by fall at 126 pounds.

Cody Eskew moved up a weight class to 138 pounds and although he scored the first takedown he ended up losing by fall.

Jake Eskew built a small lead and then hung on to win by 1 point. Other Baker winners included Ian Feldmeier, Gauge Bloomer, MaHonri Rushton and Colt Cobb.

Baker’s new girls team wrestled in several exhibition matches. Kayla Springer won one match by fall.

The Baker varsity will compete in the Best of the West Friday and Saturday at the Tri Cities, Washington. The Baker girls and JV boys teams will compete in the John Rysdam Memorial tournament at Elgin.
