Bulldogs roll past Hilanders, 75-53

Baker rode the red-hot hand of Kaden Sand in the first quarter and went on to stop Burns 75-53 in a nonleague boys basketball game Saturday afternoon in the Baker gym.

Sand finished with 28 points, including 17 in the first quarter.

With Baker trailing 12-9, Sand scored 10 straight poits to give Baker a 19-12 cushion.

Caden Long, who finished with 14 points, then added a three-point play to cap the quarter with Baker leading 22-12.

Leading by six points late in the second period, Baker broke the game open by scoring 16 straight points.

Long and Sand scored 14 of the 16, and Gabe Gambleton added a basket.

Sand and Long each added seven points in the second quarter as Baker rolled to a 43-27 halftime edge.

All 10 Baker players played and all 10 scored.

Point guard Dakota Ceja led Burns with 13 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Zane Taylor added 12 for the Hilanders (6-2), who are ranked fifth in the Class 3A standings.

Baker (6-2) and ranked 8th in Class 4A, hosts Emmett Tuesday.
