Baker looked as though it might have a cakewalk in its nonleague girls soccer match against Weiser Monday at the Baker Sports Complex.

Goals by Josie Ash and Calli Ward gave Baker an early 2-0 lead.

But then the roof caved in. Weiser scored four unanswered goals to take the lead for good. Ash added another goal late in the second half but Baker still fell, 4-3.

Baker controlled the pace of the game in the early going, outshooting the Wolverines 2-to-1.

Ash broke the scoring ice when she banged home a shot from in close to the left of the Weiser keeper. Ward scored later in the half when her corner kick curled into the net after caroming off a Weiser defender.

Weiser then got things turned around and pulled into a 2-2 halftime tie. Weiser then added two more goals in the second half before Ash scored again late on a rebound off the Weiser keeper.

Baker travels to La Grande Saturday to open Greater Oregon League play.
