“It just shows where we’re use to having our engines in there, and we we didn’t have them tonight,” said Baker coach Mat Sand.

“It just meant we had to play some people more time than we’d like.”

Jayme Ramos scored nine first-quarter points to lift the Bulldogs to a 9-8 lead at the break.

Burns then scored the first nine points of the second period to take a 17-9 edge.

Three points from Davis in the final 3 seconds of the half pulled Baker to within 27-23 at halftime.

Burns maintained a slim lead throughout the third quarter. Baker managed to cut the deficit to one point twice, each time on baskets by Davis.

Baker then went on a 10-6 run to start the fourth quarter, eventually tying the game at 49-49 on a pair of Kaeli Flanagan free throws.

Then, after Burns regained a 51-49 advantage on two free throws with 2:55 remaining, Davis’ three-pointer provided the winning margin.

Emily Carter added a pair of insurance free throws with 3.8 seconds left.

Ramos led Baker with 16 points. Flanagan added 13 and Davis 10.

Baker will be busy this week, playing four games in five days.

The Bulldogs travel to Vallivie, Idaho, Tuesday before competing in a tournament at Nyssa Thursday through Saturday.
