It seems Baker likes to make things interesting for the home baseball fans.

In a nonleague game against Homedale Tuesday at the Baker Sports Complex, Baker took a 5-1 lead then let Homedale tie the game 5-5 in the top of the seventh.

Baker then answered in the bottom of the seventh.

Spencer Smith led off with a double. One out later Drew Osborn walked. Conner Lay then slapped an RBI single to right field to plate the winning run, 6-5.

“It was some great baseball,” said Baker coach Tim Smith. “Homedale is 15-3 on the season. This was a real good win for us at home with our No. 3 pitcher on the hill.”

Lay started for the Bulldogs, pitching into the sixth inning. Dawson Linscott then came in as relief — his first outing on the season — and shut down Homedale.

“I thought Conner threw the ball well and I thought Dawson threw well,” Smith said.” He came in and stopped the bleeding.”

Linscott earned the win in relief.

Baker travels to Mac-Hi Saturday and DeSales, Washington, Monday before hosting Payette in a single game Tuesday.

Baker’s JV lost 15-11 at Homedale Tuesday.
