La Grande dominated play Tuesday on the way to a 25-15, 25-17, 25-23 Greater Oregon League volleyball victory over Baker in the BHS gym.

In the first two games, Baker managed to tie the Tigers at 6-6. Then La Grande pulled away to improve its GOL record at 2-0. The loss dropped Baker’s GOL mark to 1-1.

In Game 1, La Grande pulled away to a 13-6 advantage before Baker rallied to within 13-10.

Baker never got closer than six points after that.

In Game 2, Baker managed to tie the Tigers at 7-7 before La Grande surged ahead to 18-10.

Baker got no closer than seven points after that.

In the third game Baker fell behind 20-10 before mounting a short rally.

The Bulldogs went through four service rotations before Averi Elms served an ace to get Baker to within 23-22.

Baker stayed within one point at 24-23, but La Grande then scored the final two points.

Baker also lost a nonleague match at Parma Monday 25-12, 25-21, 25-15.

The Bulldogs will compete at the Sisters tournament Saturday.

Baker’s junior varsity split its matches with Parma and La Grande.

The Bulldogs beat Parma 25-18, 25-19, but lost to La Grande 16-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-12, 5-15.

Baker’s JV 2 squad swept both of its matches.

The Bulldogs defeated Parma 25-11, 25-21, and topped La Grande 25-12, 25-18.

Baker hosts Fruitland Monday and Mac-Hi Tuesday.
