Much like the U.S. Postal Service, Baker’s tennis teams didn’t let the weather stop them from their appointed rounds Saturday.

Baker’s boys defeated Mac-Hi 4-1, and Baker’s girls topped the Pioneer girls 3-1 at the Ash Grove Complex.

This despite a half-hour rain delay in the middle of the match.

“Both Baker teams played strong matches,” said Baker coach Kristin Schwin.

In boys singles, Shane Cunningham and Jorge Duran won in straight sets. Duran and Jacob Miller played their first varsity matches Saturday.

In boys doubles, Luke Barnes and Isaac Nemec won the No. 1 match 8-2. Following the rain delay all matches were played as pro sets.

Eli Lien and Anthony Cowan won the No. 2 match.

The Baker girls swept their singles matches.

Hannah Johnson and Gabbie Trebilcock each won in straight sets. Andrea Pettit needed a tie-breaker to also win in straight sets.

Emma Finley and Kaylee Dalke won the No. 1 doubles match. The Baker duo was leading 5-2 in the first set when the match was called by rain.

Baker hosts Ontario today, then travels to Vale Tuesday.
