Powder Valley wins crown

Powder Valley girls picked the most opportune time to play one of their better games Saturday.

The Lady Badgers rallied from a deficit just before halftime and went on to edge Joseph 43-37 in the District 7-1A girls basketball championship game at Baker High School.

The teams had met just once during the regular season with Joseph posting a 44-27 win at Joseph.

Saturday, the Eagles held a slim lead most of the first half before Powder’s Logan Nedrow hit a deep three-point basket with 3.5 seconds left in the half, lifting the Lady Badgers to a 24-23 advantage at halftime.

Powder never trailed in the second half. Joseph cut the deficit to one point once and two points twice. Powder Valley built its cushion to as many as seven points late in the fourth quarter.

Autumn Davis led Powder Valley with 10 points. Sabrina Albee topped Joseph with 12.
