Baker girls soccer 9-11

Sidnee Pierce, left, makes a pass toward teammates during Baker’s loss at home to Weiser Monday night.

Weiser handed Baker a 6-2 loss Monday in a nonleague girls soccer match at the Baker Sports Complex.

Baker played without its upperclassmen due to injuries and illness.

The Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 early in the first half before cutting the deficit to 2-1 on a goal by Taylor Gyllenberg just before halftime.

Baker nearly tied the match on the first shot of the second half, but Sydnee Pierce’s kick caromed off the crossbar.

Weiser then answered with four consecutive goals to put the match away.

Skye Smith scored Baker’s other goal midway through the second half.

Baker (1-2) is now idle until Monday when the Bulldogs travel to Weiser for a rematch with the Wolverines starting at 4:30 p.m. PDT.
